problem with background of the program

When I open a photo, the background of the photoshop screen is the same screen of the program's start. How can I fix the problem?

    HEllo, are you on a Mac, a Pc? Are your Operating System or your GPU drivers up to date?

    if you are on Ps 22.5, you can  try to check "Deactivate Native Canvas" in the menu Edit/Preferences/Technology preview (Pc) or Photoshop/Preferences/Technology preview (Mac) .
    This is not a fix, but rather a way to check if the issue appears only with the new technology, and should be reported to the Ps team.

    Can you post some screenshot to illustrate the problem? Color of canvas that surrounds image area can be changed using right-click on that canvas > choose preset like Black, Dark Grey... or click on Select Custom Color...
