Hello,

I am a beginner in Photoshop.

I was trying to use the sharpen filter on an image but by selecting sharpen, I can see it has an effect on the image however I didn't get any panel for adjusting the effect...How can i get this panel?

Thanks in advance,

Evahawa

"I was following a YouTube tutorial in which the expert was showing this sharpen filter"

Hi

One thing that hasn't been said yet is that Unsharp Mask uses Gaussian blur and the newer Smart Sharpen is set by default to Lens Blur (but gives you a choice).

Hi

There is no options for the Sharpen Filter, it's a one hit wonder, you could use the Smart Shapen option which gives you a panel to make adjustments. Convert your image to a smart object first, that way you can adjust the sharpen affect later if required

Right click on the layer and select convert to smart object

Double click smart sharpen to open the options again

Thanks a lot Ged,

I will try this.

The thing is that I was following a YouTube tutorial in which the expert was showing this sharpen filter on a normal image (not smart object), this video has been done in 2017, do you think at this time, it was possible to get a sharpen adjustment panel? Now, not anymore (I am having Photoshop CC 2018).

Kind regards,

Evahawa

You don't have to use a smart object, it just means you can edit the effect later if you want, without a smart object once you make the adjustment there's no going back, do you have a link to the video and why CC2018 the most recent version is 2020

Sure, here is the link, please see at 34:52 exactly (it is in French but by just following the video, you will get it) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eEgTCj9nCI

I was not aware of version 2020, how does it work to update it?

Kind regards,

Evahawa
