Hello,
I'm using Photoshop 23.1 and am getting this error when trying to 'Place Linked' an exr file into Photoshop.
"Could not place "example.exr" because of a problem with the file-format module interface."
The exr file will open fine actually in Photoshop if I just do 'file-open', but for some reason I get this error only when I try and do the 'Place Linked' operation with the exr file.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Hello,
Happy to update I found the issue. I must have had an old version of the Exr-IO plugin that was causing the error. I noticed when I removed the plugin completely it did not give me the error. Then after re-downloading it from the website, it also worked fine. Thanks for any time spent looking into this!

Could you share a copy of the EXR file you're having trouble with? (share link from CC files or Dropbox, etc)

Hi Jeff!
Thanks for the reply. Here's an example folder that contains two images.

What I am doing is first opening 'image_01.exr' into Photoshop, which opens fine. Once 'image_01' is opened I then do 'File > Place Linked..' and I choose 'image_02.exr'. This is when it gives me the error. This type of process works fine in the latest version of Photoshop 22 Release, and seems to break when going to 23.
