Problem with typing in Photoshop

Community Beginner ,
Dec 19, 2019 Dec 19, 2019

Hi,

I have just got the latest version of Photoshop and I have a problem with typing which is driving me NUTS! When I start typing, if I want the cursor to go to the line below by clicking ENTER like in the old versions the cursor just disappears! I have tried pressing SHIFT + ENTER etc and looking at the type and paragraph setting but to no avail.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi

Have you tried resetting the Type Tool

If that doesn't help try resetting PS preferences

Hi Keith,

You didn’t say if you are clicking to start typing or dragging out a frame to type into, so please check that you are dragging with the Type tool to create a frame. Also, are you using the Numeric Enter or the regular Enter?

Which "enter" key are you using? The enter key next to the Alpha characters should do as you want. The enter key next to the numeric keypad finishes the text entry the way you describe above.
