I have been having an issue with Photoshop lagging while drawing with the Brush Tool. It doesn't seem to matter which brush I use, stock PS brush or otherwise. The lag is so bad that the line I draw does not show up no matter how long I wait, but will flicker in for a second if I hit undo. After I hit undo, the entire layer will drag with my cursor as if I had selected the Move tool. This occurs completely randomly; sometimes after 5 min of drawing on a tiny canvas, sometimes after hours of working on a huge file with multiple other programs open. I am unable to replicate the issue no matter what I try, so I have no idea what is causing it.
I am running Windows 11 and PS version 25.3.1 (but this also occured on PS 2023)
I have double checked my RAM (64GB DDR5) and Scratch Disks(nvme4 SSD), and I do not believe that is the issue. It occurs whether or not PS is the only program open. The nVidia GPU is set to handle Photoshop.exe. If I have my Task Manager open, nothing suggest PS is taking up too much memory and no background processes suddenly jump up their usage.
I do not get a Scratch Disk error.
I have watched the Efficiency indicator in PS and it never drops from 100%, even when the issue occurs.
It does not occur upon zooming, rotating, saving, undoing a lot, or any of the other things that caused lag when I had a less powerful computer.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PS. I have reset all settings. I have tried literally everything I can find online.
I am not a computer expert by any means, but I have had my techie husband look it over and he has tried everything within his knowledge and now he is stumped too. What are we overlooking?
