Ps 23 print issues - Saturation very low

Print values are correct (density) visually, but saturation is very low. This is true to both rag paper and photo paper using both my own profiles and the OEM profiles. The same files printed from Preview are correct, so color management, profiles, print settings, Epson driver, and MacOS printer are not the problem. That leaves Ps. I tried printing from Lr, but it keeps defalting to roll paper, which I do not want to waste. I also boosted saturation to the point that the file was bleeding, yet printed from Ps it was still much less saturation than it should have been without the boost - it hardly made a difference.

MacOS 10.15.7, Ps CC23, Epson p5000 printer. Printing without a RIP via the Epson driver (latest version). OEM profiles and my Xrite profiles for Epson Legacy Fibre and Canson Barata Photo.

Hi, so with Photoshop, you're perhaps using "Photoshop manages Color" - with printing from Preview, I imagine you'll be using 'printer colour management' / 'vendor matching' [where an ICC media profile is used, based on selected media option in the driver?]?

If that’s right, have you tried using 'printer colour management' from Photoshop?

One would imagine that Photoshop is simply handing an image file to the print driver if using 'printer colour management' - of course, though, if using "Photoshop manages Color" then Photoshop does get to mess with the colour en route.

I am finding it hard to imagine a case where a printer driver needs updating to go with a new Photoshop version.

I hope this helps

When you updated PS, did you check for updated printer drivers as well? They dont auto update with the PS version.

Just because it prints in another application does not mean something in PS wasnt updated requiring a new driver update.

You can also try holding the space bar when you open the print window to reset your printing preferences and rebuild from scratch.

Definitely try this, useful tip: "You can also try holding the space bar when you open the print window to reset your printing preferences and rebuild from scratch.
