PS 25.0.0 official release bugs on Mac

System info:

  • Macbook Pro M1
  • 16in 2021
  • 32Gb
  • Ventura 13.5.2

Photoshop 25.0.0 official release bugs:

  • Placed images on a transparent bg are blank/transparent
  • Smart objects on a transparent bg are blank/transparent
  • Once clicked into a smart object/image the original file (even if it's in PS) shows the actual art
  • Changes to that original art and saved updates do not show anything in the main file

Note:

I have not always had these issues, it started happening end of last week, but this was not something that happened at first for a number of days on the new release. I've tried closing everything, restarting, changing my color settings in photoshop, new documents with different settings, etc. The only way I can see images/smart objects is by having a solid background in a new doc. If I do this and THEN go back and create a transparent doc it will sometimes revert and fix the visibility of objects/placed images only on the new one.

It's a strange issue and has been quite frustrating so far. Not sure why it started.

What has been changed on your system before the error occur? Do you have installed any updates for your operating system or drivers?

Please try to disable the option to "Use Graphics Procesor" from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, quit & relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.

If it helps, you can check out the steps suggested here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

Preferences in Photoshop (adobe.com)

Please backup your settings before resetting the preferences. You can check:

Migrate presets, actions, and settings (adobe.com)

Another try is to enable the Older GPU Mode option in "Preferences" > "Technology Previews" > "Use Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)". Then goto "Preferences" > "Technology Previews" and enable "Disable Native Canvas". Restart Photoshop.

If this all doesn't help, we need more informations about your system. Maybe you can post your Photoshop system info. In Photoshop goto Help > System Info and hit the copy button. Then paste the entire informations into this thread.

Thank you for the thorough suggestions. I'll give it a go and mark it correct if this helps next time around or follow up with feedback.
