Ps layers

Hi there,

I am a newbie to Ps. I am trying to paint in a layer over an image of one of my actual paintings. Now the layer that I am painting on turned red, and does not allow me to paint any more. Please help.

    Can you post a screen shot? Offhand, it might be that you accidentally turned on quick mask. Press "Q" to see if that fixes it.

    It sounds like you may have enabled Quick Mask Mode (that happens when you press Q). You can toggle it off by pressing Q again or by going to Select > Edit in Quick Mask Mode (If it's enabled, then there will be a checkmark by it. When you toggle it off the checkmark will be gone).
