psd file association broken after upgrade to Photoshop CC 2019

Community Beginner ,

Hi

I just upgraded to photoshop CC 2019 from the earlier version

Have hit the first roadblock with this - the default application associated with psd files is now Adobe XD (not photoshop). Is this a known issue & are there any more such surprises with the new version?

Also, any advise on how to fix it - so that psd files only open with photoshop?

I am using a windows 10 machine

Regards

Prashant

No it doesn't!!!  That was the first thing I tried several days ago.  As I said earlier, I've been doing this for over 30 years.

Here's the result AFTER I've selected Photoshop.

  • For .PSD) Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
    Explorer\FileExts\.psd\OpenWithList
  • (For .JPG) Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
    Explorer\FileExts\.jpg\OpenWithList

If that exists, verify (Default) has the correct path verified in Step 1.

If path is not correct, double-click (Default). Type the following text in it:

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019\Photoshop.exe" "%1"

did you tried all this correct ?

I did exactly that, and it still wouldn't associate the file.

I have now done another clean install, and it seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for your time.  I do appreciate your help.
