Question

PSD files all have the same preview

PS 24.1.0
Mac OS 12.6.1

I'm working on a large project with multiple PSD files.

The strange thing is that they all have the same preview when I email them, even though the content is completely different.

They should have previews that reflect the content in the PSD files. That's not the case.

It's causing some confusion on the other end.

How do I fix this?

Can you share the PSD files you're seeing this with? Post a URL to the file using CC files or dropbox, or something similar to share the file.

What do you have have for your maximize compatiblity setting? If you set this to "Always" do files have the right thumbnail?

Hi @Jonowl would it be possible for you to share some screenshots of what you are seeing, the workflow you used to get to this?  This could be very helpful for the team to see what you are seeing.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Cory

Were the previews correct coming out of Photoshop?

Did they change after you attached them to an email?

Test it - save a new file out of PS- is the preview correct? Then attach the file to an email - did it change? There is your answer.

I've seen Outlook specifically change previews when emailing.

It's why I always zip my files now to prevent corruption.

You'd think so. However, the previews of the PSD files on my desktop also show the incorrect preview. It's so strange.

Isn't it possible the email application is messing with the files?

Maybe sharing the psd files via Adobe Creative Cloud would work better.

Thanks for your reply. Zipping will not be of benefit in this situation. What's important is for people on the opposite end to be able to identify the PSD files by preview quickly.

Have you tried "zipping" the files before emailing?
