Question

Quick Mask doesn't work when is hidden

Why doesn't the QM (Quick Mask) mode shortcut (Q key) work when I hide the icon from the toolbar?

Is there a menu command for the QM?

If you uncheck this as Jeff pointed out, then you can use the Q shortcut. My concern is that it will also activate the single key  shortcuts for other  hidden tools unless you delete their respective shortcuts.

In Photoshop under Edit>Toolbar do you have Disable Shortcuts for Hidden Toolbar Extras checked?

The menu commmand for Quick Mask is Select>Edit in Quick Mask Mode

Many thanks. The option is grayed out:

Thanks for the menu command. I'm wondering how I missed this command in the Select menu!

It's ridiculous! The option is active and greyed out because the Toolbar settings button (3 dots) is hidden. I have to show the Toolbar settings button (3 dots) to enable the option ("Disable shortcuts for hidden Toolbar Extras").
