Quick selection tool causing force close

I can use any other tool fine. Everytime i use the quick selection tool It will freeze for about 5 seconds then just shut down. No error message or anything.PLEASE HELP!!

Sorry that Photoshop is freezing as soon as you use quick selection tool.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
