quick selection tool not working

Advisor ,
Sep 24, 2019 Sep 24, 2019

The quick selection tool is not working for me.  When I select it and start using it, nothing happens.  I don't know how posting an image of the workspace will help, but at least you can see I have all layers selected.  Beyond that, I have no idea what's wrong.  I reset all tools.  No change.  Does anybody have any thoughts?  Thanks.

The tool is set to »Sample All Layers«, so it does seem unexpected.

What else have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Any chance you already have everything selected (I can't see the edges of the image to confirm). Try pressing Ctrl+D first then making your selection.

It is working now. I'm not sure what was happening. However, it might have been that I needed to turn off the upper layer in order to see the marching ants when using the quick selection tool, as they may have been obscured by the layer on top of the layer I was on.

Adobe has changed the look of these pages. I don't see where to mark a question as answered. I would like to do that if it's preferable to close it out. Where is that option now?

Hi, underneath the posts you should see a 'Correct Answer' word which is clickable. You can now mark more than one answer correct but there is no longer a 'helpful' button.

There is Like, Translate, Report and Follow, but no "Correct Answer" option that I can see.

You shouldn't need to hide a layer to see the ants. Hopefully it won't happen again but, if it does, try Ctrl+D to deselect everything and try again.
