quick selection tool

Hello. My quick selection tool is not grabbing areas like it used to. For example if there was a photo of a red apple in a black backround it would seclect the whole red apple automatically .  Now it is more like a pen where I have to hand draw the selection... super frustrating I have tried resetting my tools and I cxant seem to fix it. HELP thanks

Be sure - you are work on current (right) layer

Be sure tyu use medium size of this tool

Please forgive this question but are you sure you are using the Quick Selection Tool? Adobe recently added the Object Selection Tool and it is grouped with the Quick Selection Tool and the Magic Wand Tool in the Tools panel.
