"Blend if" Not Working

"Blend if" is suddenly not working, no matter which color I choose. This is a sudden change as I use it a lot -- as recently as yesterday. Alt-click does separate the slider into two, but sliding them makes no change in color whatsoever. How can I fix this? Version 21.1.2.

Please show a screen shot that includes the Layers panel with the appropriate layers and the Blend If dialog.

Oh dear! Visibility for the underlying layer was not turned off. If I had a blushing emoji handy, it would go here.
