"Enhance" has disappeared from ACR

When I try to use super resolution on a RAW file (either .CR3 or .dng) right clicking on the image in ACR brings up a context menu with no "Enhance" option.  (Enhance > Super Resolution is working in Lightroom Classic just not in ACR via photoshop.) I have 3 images below.  

  1.  My ACR preference for technology previews (no options show up)
  2.  A Raw file being opened in ACR via Photoshop.
  3.  The context menu for that Raw file when I right click (no Enhance choice shows up)

I am frustrated.  Can anyone help?

No, it is a raw file (CR3) - but it's the wrong panel in ACR:

As @D Fosse shows, Adobe moved Enhance in ACR so that it's under the Detail panel. It also doesn't require a new .dng. However, they've also dropped some related features, like seeing how much time the process will take before starting it.

D Fosse is correct, when you enabled that Technology Preview feature it moved Enhance from a separate modal dialog box into the main Camera Raw panel UI. It does not disappear, it is made more convenient with fewer steps, including not having to make a separate DNG file for the result. This was something Adobe publicly said they wanted to achieve.

 

In other words, as intended, the Enhance command disappeared from the menus because you enabled that Technology Preview option.

No, the option did show up, it is there in your screen shot. The option is the one named “New AI Features and Settings Panel.” When you enable that, the Enhance options now appear as AI features in a settings panel, which is what the option says. The Enhance command goes away because the extra steps to go through it are no longer needed. No more need to right-click, open, preview, apply, wait for generation of enhanced DNG duplicate…all that goes away when you enable “New AI Features and Settings Panel” because now, all you have to do is tick the box.

 

If the setting could be named better, well, it’s a Technology Preview which is disabled by default, so clearly, for now Adobe wants it to be enabled only by those who understand the changes and risks. It is currently only meant for those who want to help test the new way, and understand that it might have issues with stability, performance, or results. In fact, there are a number of reports in these forums that Camera Raw seems to be running slower if “New AI Features and Settings Panel” is enabled.

 

When Adobe decides it’s been sufficiently tested, the Tech Preview option will go away, and we will probably never see the Enhance command or dialog box again. We will then Enhance directly from the Detail panel.

How can you batch de-noise now since the Enhance command under Photo is gone.  That option let me save a lot of time over the current detail window that only allows selection of one pic at time.  I could de-noise 10 or so at a time and do something else in the five minutes that the computer ran all the pics. Counting the additional time selecting  each pic and "denoise" for every pic individually, it will be more that 5 minutes when de-noising individually.  If the batch processing of Enhance is gone,  I'll have to sit at my computer the whole time.  Not good.  Thanks, B.

I have been batch de-noising using the same method as for any other option in the panels: Select multiple images in the filmstrip, and select Denoise. It then starts processing all selected images, so I can walk away and come back when it’s done.

 

In other words, it’s the same as the old way but fewer steps, because you don’t have to open a dialog box now.

 

Adobe has suggested additional batch processing methods such as a preset, sync settings, or copy/paste settings. So there are at least four ways to batch process.

 

The only problem is what you mentioned: It doesn’t happen in the background. I dislike that too, I think the batch should be processed in the background as many other processes do, so that I can keep working on other things. I guess that is the next big improvement we would like them to make to this feature. But batch processing Denoise itself? There are so many ways to do that.

    Many thanks.  Especially for posting the screen shot.  I was not seeing the "Detail" panel but after fiddling around, I right clicked and selected Show All.  Voila !   Thanks again,

    I believe you are attempting to use a feature that is only accessible when you open a RAW file directly in ACR, rather than through Photoshop. Some features may be unavailable, such as Denoise, Super Resolution, Crop, and possibly others.
