I just started using Photoshop and I'm following the tutorial for generative fill features, and got the error message "The parameters for command “Generative Fill” are not currently valid" when I tried to use the generative expand feature and expanded the cropped area larger than the canvas. I see users have received similar messages for other features ("The parameters for command X are not currently valid," for "Open," "Auto-Blend," "Trim," etc.) - I don't know parameters are or what this means or how to fix it. Suggestions?

Hi @Andrea33883126wvvj are you using actions or scripts to apply your crop or are you simply using the crop tool set to Generative Expand?

@Joni339586165nyh try changing your crop setting (far left) from original ratio to just Ratio.

I find it interesting that in Beta it worked great, but in full production not as much. I did use "Content Aware Fill" which if the subject is close to the edge you end up with unusual results. For me my subject was a toddler and her hand was at the edge of the frame and due to the size request 5x7 I had to expand the image. and ended up with a clubbed hand. Thankfully with a litt le "creative cropping I was able to make it work.

I'm having the same error occur on any version of Photoshop I try. I have tried it at home also, different PC but with the same account. I occasially get other errors when trying to use generative fill to expand, something about the feature not being available in this version of Photoshop.

Hi, I have the same problem on my brand new laptop (HP OMEN laptop, intel i7, 32GB, Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card), on my desktop it works perfect (The specs here are less, because it's an older pc). The same version of photoshop installed on the two machines. Please ADOBE tell us how to get those parameters valid.

Select Crop Tool > Extend to desired size > click Zoom button to fit to frame > Select Rectangular Marquee Tool and highlight areas you want to extend > Select Crop Tool > Select Generative Fill > ...i let mine auto generate > BOOM it worked!
It gave me 3 options to choose from and turned out great for me! The video below is very "AI Generated" but it is correct.

Can confirm this worked. Wish the bug was still fixed.
