"Use Graphics Processor" Grayed Out.

Hello,

I have spent many hours over many days trying to resolve this myself and have read through many threads posing the same question/problem.

I am unable to "Use Graphics Processor" which is killing my productivity/efficiency.

I run an AMD R9 290 on the latest Driver accurate as of the date of this post.

Please see attached screenshots for clarification and to acknowledge I have performed what should be expected before posting.

I Rolled Back the Driver to when it used to work but it no longer does.

I have confirmed there are others using the same Driver version on the same GPU as I am on Photoshop CC 2014 and CC 2015 that are working fine.

I have performed a clean install of Photoshop CC 2015, AMD Catalyst and my GPU Drivers as well as rolled back Windows 10 to a previous build when it used to work, but that did not help either.

So as of now, Photoshop, my Drivers and Windows are all up to date.

I don't know if there was a solution to this problem.. I was searching the WEB there and back, but I did not find anything... finally I tried to run photoshop cc 2015 in Windows 7 compatible mode, and it solved the problem. PS CC showed the right video card in the performance menu... probably it will help Adobe to solve this issue...

Hi!
I was having the same problem but with photoshop cc 2018 and this is the solution i have found:
Right click on desktop icon and Run compatibility troubleshooter, check the answers with nearest to my problem and this automactically figured out the problem at the first attempt.

Now i will discribe my answers to the check boxes:

1.- What problems do you notice? = I dont see my problem listed
2.- Which version of windows did this program wor on before? = I dont know
3.- Test compatibility settings for the program = test the program (automatically set for windows vista)

and then, I checked: Yes this solved the problem. Saved the settings for the program.

To run the correct troubleshooter (Using Adobe Photoshop CC 2018) you have to go to:

1. Control Panel

2. Search "Troubleshoot" and click it

3. Under programs click "Program Compatibility Troubleshooter"

4. Click "Next"

5. Select "Adobe Photoshop CC 2018" from the list

6. Do whatever it asks after that

7. Click "Save Changes"

Guys, its easy, I solved it in seconds, (this is for nVidia users) Just open up control panel, then go to manage 3d settings, select Adobe photoshop as application and then scroll down till you find, OpenGL rendering GPU and change it from auto to whatever GPU you have.
