I've been using PS CS6 for years and at my age I would prefer to not have to move to CC. I messed up my computers Windows 10 and it sort of worked. I had a 2 TB hard drive that was abour 6 years old and more than 3/4 full. Given all of the above I decided to upgrade to a new drive and double the size to 4 TB. The shop instaled my Windows 10.
I do data backups a couple of times a day to an external hard drive so I was able to re-instal my data over a couple of days. I was able to reinstal the other programs I use.
I suspect a lot of the problem I'm having has to do with "rights" and capabilities.
And then came Photoshop CS6. Before taking the computer to the repair shop I wanted to try and eliminate any issues I'd have with Photoshop. Over the years I had various issues that caused me to reinstal photoshop and apparently I had now used up all of my activations (I didn't even know there was such a thing- good thin I called) So I deactivated and right then the person on the line could see I had one more activation. This morning I instaled it.
I use 2 cameras; One creates CS3 files and this version of ACR/Bridge (not sure which it is) requires me to convert to a DNG file. I've been doing that and that's OK. The other camera produces CS2 files which Photoshop has always been able to read and display the image as a photo.

If I'm in Bridge it doesn't show CR2 files as photos and if I click on File the link to "Open Camera RAW" is not usable (kind of grayed out).. However, if I DBL-Click the image, Photoshop CS6 opens, recognizes that I'm using a CR2 file and open Adobe Camera RAW 9.1.1. I can then edit the image and save it in any of several formats (by then I'm using jpg).

I suspect it's something to do with rights or capabilities as I know little about this.
HELP!! Thanks
Never mind.
I was correct.
It had to do with rights, etc.
