Recent files not on home screen

I have version 25.7 of photoshop ... but this has been going on before my last update... the recent files on my home screen are from years ago and will not update to match my recent files.... under file menu .... I do not use cloud to save my files, but I have a slight inkling these may have been saved there by accident ... but not the files I want to see

Check the menu on the left side, and make sure you're clicked on "home," rather than "your files" which shows files on the cloud.

Wow, I've been racking my brains. That was such an easy fix. Why isn't this spelled out clearly on the homepage?? Thanks!
