recolouring BW pictures

Hi,

I was wondering if theres an easy way to recolour a black and white photo to create multi coloured highlights and shadows. The first picture is what I am trying to recolour and the second is the kind of effect I want to create. Thanks.

Create a new layer above the black and white (grayscale) layer, set the Blending Mode to Color, and then paint on the new layer.

You could also play with other Blending Modes with either the paint layer in front with the Blending mode or the paint layer behind with the black and white layer having the Blending mode.
