Recover an autosaved file

Hi, I was stressed and accidently closed without saving a file that I had beeh working on the whole afternoon without saving. But I have autorecovery set to 10 minutes, so shouldn't I be able to recreate a previously autosaved version???

I go to Arcive - > recreate, but no files are there (nothing happens).

Do any of you know how this works?

I have Photoshop CC 17 on a Mac

Auto save -recovery works if Photoshop crashes without saving/closing. On re-opening Photoshop will open the file again from the auto save version.

However if you close a file without saving then there is no auto-recovery as the auto-saved file is also closed when you close the main file.
