When using the rectangular marquee tool, everything is fine for a while (sometimes 2-3 images, sometimes dozens) but then it stops working. Whether I just click on the image or try to draw a selection for selection, PS just selects a randomly sized rectangle from the where the cursor was at that point. I have to close Photoshop and start over...until it gives up again. Happens whether I use a mouse or the track pad so it's not hardware (both work fine in other apps). This has been in every version of CC for more than a year.

Hi there,
That shouldn't be happening. As the marquee tool stops working in Photoshop. Could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

I'm in Photoshop Beta and my marquee rectangle tool has stopped working. When I try to draw a square, it auto creates a very small box each time. I have no control over the size. I deselected the "Use Graphics Processor" button in performance and completely restarted the computer. It's still not working. The elliptical marquee tool is working.

Lee, I have had the Marquee tool glitch in the Beta version. I think I fixed by simply restarting Photoshop. I have found the beta version a bit flaky for sure, and I am running with Deactivate Native Canvas checked. We need to be foregiving with beta versions, and hope all will be well by the next full release, which should be October 10th(ish) during MAX.
