Refine edge brush not resizing in PS CC 2019

Don't know if others have noticed that in CC 2019, one cannot resize the Refine Edge brush using the brace buttons when in Select & Mask. You can go up to the brush size slider and resize from there, but of course it's much slower. If this is a problem only with my copy of the program, I'd like to know.

Thanks.

Rob

I have the same problem and I am also running Hi Sierra. It sounds like this is an issue with Hi Sierra and PS cc 2019. The option control trick works well though also with a Wacom pen. Thanks for the alternative. This was driving me nuts. I also have noticed the refine edge tool is very slow to process. Any suggestions. I am running a late 2010 Mac Pro 6 core with maxed out ram and solid state drives and nvidia graphics card. Can’t do much else to speed it up. It is fast in all other ways And all other uses in PS.

Seems to work ok here using photoshop cc 2019 on macOS Mojave.

What operating system are you using?

You could also try Control+Option left click and drag left or right (mac) or  Alt + right-click + drag left or right (win) to change the brush size.

Hi Sebastian, thanks for getting back to me. I am using a mid year Mac Pro 6core 3.3ghz processor with 48 gigs of ram both my boot drive and photo drive are SSD drives mounted in the pci-e slots.

My OS is Hi Sierra, the highest I can go with this machine it appears.

There is a caveat here tho, if I have an Apple approved graphics card I can update. However I am cautious as I also run Pro Tools HD on this machine and PT is VERY finicky.

I think my problem is related to the graphics card. I am currently using a nvidia GeForce GTX 780 with CUDA and when using the Nividia drivers it was not only very slow in select and mask but would crash to the point I could only do a hard boot. I tried going back to the previous PS version to see if this helped, but no go. So I disabled the nvidia drivers and am currently running the machine on the Apple drivers for nvidia that come with the machine. It is now working, a bit slower perhaps but usable.

My questions to you are two things, I also have a sapphire HD 7950 graphics card that I do believe would allow me to update to Mohave.should I switch? Supposedly the nividia card is faster. Question two, what would Mohave do in terms of performance on my older machine which I love by the way. It is SO versatile. The new ones don’t compare.

    I welcome any advice.
