Refine edge tool

Hi, guys, I'm new in the photoshop and I have this problem: I want to use Refine Edge tool for bringing back the hair details on my picture, but instead it's just deleting the selected areas of my picture. Can someone help me with it, Thanks a lot.

It looks like you are using far too big a refine edge brush. Redine edge is for soft edges such as the edge of hair or fur. It is not for brushing over large areas of the wanted selection. You can check the edges that will be acted on by pressing J

Thanks a lot, yeah it's actually helped, I just resized the brush tool and just added more radius to it..Thank you

Hi!

Just a reminder -- with the Refine brush, you always want to start outside of the part of the image you want to keep, and try not to go inside, otherwise you will take out more than you want.
