Releasing mouse button when cropping doesn't work sometimes

Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.2.0

When using some tools such as marquee select or crop I click the left button and drag to the required size, however sometimes after releasing the mouse button the mouse continues to resize the tool with no button pressed. I have tested with a different mouse.

Have you tried resetting Photoshop's references?

Hello, i was having the same issue but now I know the reason.

It happens when you release the mouse button while still you are draging it. even a small movement caused by higher DPI mouses will effect this..

Try holding the mouse very still when you are releasing the button.

Does it happen after you've restarted Photoshop or restarted your computer and then reopened Photoshop?

If restarting doesn't help, you could try resetting Photoshop's preferences:

It has been going on for a week or so with several restarts of the PC.
