Remove Brush not showing overlay

I'm running the latest version of PS Mobile on my new iPad Air and when I paint over an area with my Apple Pencil (USB-C version) the red overlay doesn't show until I lift the pencil. This makes it difficult to know exactly what you're "painting" over. Is this the way the brush is supposed to work or am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thank you for any help provided.

@Alan9940 Is it supposed to work that way? No, it's not. The brushes and tools in Photoshop are designed to provide real-time visual feedback (like the red overlay) as you draw or apply them. The current behavior you're experiencing significantly hinders usability.

Please don't hate me, but many users who experienced this exact issue with the Apple Pencil (USB-C) found that upgrading to an Apple Pencil 2nd Gen resolved the problem immediately. It seems Photoshop on iPad is more optimized for the 2nd Gen Pencil's capabilities, leading to better real-time performance. Bring in your iPad to the nearest Apple store and talk to one of the 'Geniuses' there

Yeah, well I already got pissed off because I already had an Apple Pen (Gen 1) that I couldn't use on my new iPad Air. Didn't want or need the "Pro" version, so I begrudingly bought the USB-C pencil which, at the time, I think was the only other option available. I'm not coughing up $129 because Adobe doesn't bother to make their app work with all the current pencils.
