Downloaded Photoshop 2024 yesterday and can't get rid of the black home screen. I will to Settings>general and then unclicked "Auto show the Home Screen" . Nothing has worked. I have downloaded Photoshop a couple of times and still can't get rid of the screen. I read where my workspace might be the issue and am now using the Essentials workspace. I got rid of all my preferences and started over clean. Still can't get rid of the stupid home screen. Help! I hate it!
Thanks Woodie
Uncheck the box - then open an image, close it out again, and exit Photoshop. Then it should stick.

Had to have it turned on, then open an image, then turn it off with image off, then close it and restart... what garbage.

This is still an issue nearly a year later. Surely the code for this new feature isn't horribly written. Surely it would only take a dev a few minutes to fix this obvious annoyance.

I was having the same frustration but then I reread D Fosse's "Open an image, then close it," and that did the trick. Thanks so much; the childish home-page interface is pretty off-putting, and I'm glad it's gone for good.

It neve ceases to amaze me everytime I upgrade photoshop I have to spend hours searching for ways to get rid of all the "GREAT NEW FEATURES" that most people could care less about. I guess the startup screen is some new feature when all most people want is blank screen.

I went to Edit, scroll down to Preferences, then Click on General and then Click on Interface and See Appearance and Below Color Theme. The colors are awful too! But at least you can get rid of the stupid BLACK!
