Hi,

I searched help but couldn't find the exact answer to my situation.

I would like to cut out a section of a picture. Then put together the two halves of the same picture / the remaining picture as one.

Thank you to all who reply.

Have a great day.

    • doubleclick the layer in the Layers panel
    • select the upper (or left part of this layer with Rectangular Marquee Tool)
    • layer via cut [Shift]+[Ctrl]+
    • activate the bottom most layer again (click on the layer in the Layers panel)
    • select the lower (or right part of this layer with Rectangular Marquee Tool)
    • layer via cut [Shift]+[Ctrl]+
    • make the bottom most layer invisible (click on the eye in the Layers panel) or delete this layer
    • select the Move Tool
    • in the image: drag the layer in direction to the other one; pay attention to the Smart guides

    Finally:

    • activate the top most layer (click on the layer in the Layers panel)
    • Merge Down [Ctrl]+
    • [Ctrl]+click (on the thumbnail in the layers panel)
    • menu: Image --> Crop

    Done

I have one picture in Photoshop. Need to cut out the middle of the picture and push the remaining two sections together. Hope that is more clear.

    Thanks for any help.

In the latest Photoshop CC, double-click the background layer in the Layers Panel to unlock it.

Hit Ctrl / Cmd + J to duplicate the layer.

Next, create a Layer Mask to hide unwanted areas of your image.   See video tutorial below.

Is this a Photoshop or Photoshop Elements question? Or another app?

Can you explain a bit more in detail what you really want to do?
