I have a logo with a white background I can't seem to get rid of no matter what I do to it, Can anyone help?

Yes, unlock the background in the way that fenja suggest, then try to use the eraser tool to delete the actual background.

If it works then use the appropriate tool to get rid of the white background.

As per the others plus ... ...don't forget if you want to save an image with the background transparent you need to save in a format that supports transparency, such as PSD, PNG....,  but not jpeg

Is your background layer locked?

Convert it into a normal layer by clicking on the lock icon.
