Question

Removing red mark from B&W photo

I have some black and white prints that have been photographed in color. There is a prominent red stamp on the image and because of where the stamp is positioned it is impossible to clone the red stamp away. How do I isolate the red so that I can easily remove it? I've tried converting it to LAB mode and then making the lightness and A channel not visible which does remove the red but I cannot save it. I know this will probably be a simple thing to do but I'm lost, please help!

Can you post a sample image?

Here I desaturated an RGB image and added a red stamp.  I did  a select Color Range Red followed by 5 Fill Content aware.  In this case it worked quite well. I use Crtl+H to hide the marching ants so I could see how each content aware fill worked. An action could be recorded and batched if it works for your images.

Looking at my Image at 100% zoom I saw some red was still there so I expanded the selection 1px and did two more Fill content aware.
