Rename Photoshop action command

How can I rename a single line command of a Photoshop action? I have this action that works with a set of brushes which I need to rename individually, but to make the action work I need also to rename the action commands that link to the brushes. These commands can just be played or recorded again, while I'm just able to rename the main group of the action. Is there a way to rename these individual commands inside the program? Thank you

Please illustrate with a screenshot of the action panel with all steps fully expanded/disclosed so that they are visible.

Re-recording them is generally the best option.

Using the xtools script, one can convert an .ATN file to .XML (ActionFileToXML.jsx), edit it in a plain text editor, and then convert it back to an .ATN (ActionFileFromXML.jsx).

YMMV.

Here's a picture of the action. I need to rename the line that's highlighted (and all the lines that links to the other brushes as well) which are part of the main folder that instead can be renamed.

Using the tool you suggested, would I be able to do so in the XML file? Can I then convert it back to ATN with the same tool?

Thank you very much

MS NotePad – I would avoid MS WordPad... Or one of these:

I wouldn't try to convert the .ABR files to XML! Just change their name in Photoshop to match and resave them, first making backup copies of the original named files.

I see, I'll switch to another editor. Still a bit tedious renaming each brush, especially when you have many to edit. I wish there was a 'find and replace' feature just inside of Photoshop!
