Render - Lighting Effects not working

Since I upgraded my CS6 Version to PS CC my filter which I have used most, Lighting Effects, does not work at all. Tried the Option Key - Reset in the filter window, no change.

Also, I did - Reset Preferences on quit- nothing changed.
please, advise what else can be done. Thank you!

Adobe are updating the core graphics functions in Photoshop. This is driven by the operating systems of Apple and Microsoft in which the old Open GL functions are being removed in the case of Apple, or deprecated in the case of Microsoft. This means that the graphics functions that have worked for years must be rewritten to use Metal and Direct X. At the same time, Adobe are sensibly updating those core functions to deliver the additional speed we require to handle the very large files of today.
Some functionality in Photoshop, such as 3D and Lighting Effects, still relies on the older Open GL graphics functions. To make these work, an additional preference Preferences>Technology previews>Deactivate Native Canvas has been added. This can be checked and Photoshop restarted to restore 3D functions to where they were in 22.3

Note : Adobe have announced that 3D will be removed from future versions, so at the next major release v23 you may want to ensure that you do not uninstall the older version v22 (you can have both installed)

Go to preferences/technology preview and put a check in deactivate native canvas.

I've followed all of the advice in the latest suggestions and still no lighting effects.  Tried everything.  I have the latest version of PS.

One other thing to try, if your Render > Lighting Effects is still broken: Make sure in Preferences > Performance > History States is at least 50. When I reduced this, I noticed Lighting Effects stopped working. Could be coincidental though.

Hi, my Render Lighting Effects was broken too, but it started working again as I tried to fix a different bug. One or both of these made it start working again:

Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews > Deactivate Native Canvas

Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Advanced Settings for "Use Graphics Processor" > Un-check "30 bit Display"

Restart the app after these changes.
