rendering video very slow!

It renders very slowly for me too. I recorded some GoPro footage in 2.7 k 25p. It was recorded in Protune and Camera Raw. I just edited the raw data and wanted to render it out. It is still rendering and nothing seems to happen. =O

Is it possible to open up the edited video from Photoshop into Premiere Pro or After Effects?

I noticed the same thing on a 2.8hz 6 core AMD, 16 Gig's memory, 3 tb's free disk space, and 2 gig video card, win7pro. Compared to my NLE running 3 to 5 times slower (I tried ACHD, QuickTime, and the other Codec). Whats going on? If we do a cut or add a filter does CS6 always recode, No background rendering?

Ok here's what I found. If you use only the layer tools the rendering is as fast as my NLE. However if you make the video clip a smart object and use things like filters/sharpening the rendering time even at the same bit rate and codec type it slows way down. So use the smart object with filters etc knowing that it will take a very long time to render. Still usable for that special effect on a short clip but not for full production as a smart object. This is great for doing some basic editing on lots of files and then doing the stuff in your NLE that CS6 won't render fastly.

Test this on your machine by :

1. bring a clip in and render it to the same bit rate/resolution

2. Do some levels or other layer action and render.

3. bring the same clip in, change to a smart object

4. do the same layers stuff

5. do something like sharpen

6. render - you will see the time difference.

I'm seeing the same thing - rendering a video in CS6 is about 4 times slower than rendering it in ProShow Gold.  I've tried a number of different settings and choosing the closest 1080p settings in both as possible results in CS6 taking 4-5 TIMES longer than ProShow Gold.  Viewing the resulting video on high resolution monitors or large TVs show no noticeable difference in image quality.  In fact, it is so slow that ProShow Gold renders any video faster on my old Core-2 laptop (slow disk, small memory) than CS6 can on my i7-950 desktop (high speed RAID and lots of memory).  Any ideas why CS6 is so much slower than the competition and what can be done? 

I'm on the fence about upgrading from CS5 to CS6 and being able to do some of the video editing and rendering could be the tipping point.  But, it is totally unusable being this slow.

Rendering high quality large Video and Audio data into small low bit rate high quality video and audio is very compute intensive even if you upgrade your processor it may take a very long time try different codecs to seen if any meet your expectations. If not try to find a program that simply trims the video files you have without re-encodeing the video and audio data.

So what have you done with regard to improving Performance and general trouble-shooting yet?
