Restore previous settings

Hi, I tried to find my answer in the previous discussions but couldn't, apologies if I missed it because I'm sure it must be somewhere.

I got a new computer a couple of weeks ago.  I have been using photoshop since the early 1990's and use it almost every day, but I still only consider myself moderately skilled.. I know how to do what I need to do but that's about it.  With my new computer, none of my previous settings are here, my tools aren't here, my fonts, my preferences... I'm going about trying to add everyting as I go but there must be an easier way?  Specifically right now I can't get the program to open png files as I want, they open apparently as jpgs.  I also don't have options to save as anything other than TIFF or psd but can maually change it once in the save menu.. it's just a mess.  Help please.  Honestly the primary driving force for me getting a new computer is that photoshop was running too slow because my other computer was several years old and all "clogged up" more or less.  Thanks!

Ps I did have an IT professional save all my data from my old computer onto an external drive before he wipted it, so maybe those setttings are somewhere on that drive?

Thank you for helping me!  What if I already "wiped" my old computer and gave it to one of my staff ... assuing this would all be saved in my cloud account?  Nothing I can do?  Thanks!

If not... I would really appreciate help on figuring out how to save and open for example png files... that option just isn't available in the program I just downloaded (that I can find)... that is something I use a lot.  Thank you so much!

I do see the information about manual presents and where they should be stored on my external drive hopefully and will try all that and let you know.  I also found a tutorial showing that if I choose "save a copy" rather than "save as", I have all my save options; open as seems to work the same.  I can work with this but don't really understand?  Thank you for your help again!!  Sherry
