Retaining transparency of blend modes in pngs

I have a PSD that has a few blend modes, mainly multiply and screen that I have to submit merged PNGs and TIFFs to the client, retaining the transparency. Specifically the image below. I need to be able to retain this transparency so that I can drop different colored backgrounds in. I tried making a stamp of the layers without the BG, but it completely loses the transparency. I also tried to convert to smart object but with the same result. I know there was once a way to do this and now I am just completely frustrated. Please advise.

Depends on what you mean by »way to do this«; the effect is how it has been and how it keeps on being when one merges Layers of different Blend Modes into one Layer.

But there are work-arounds.

If the Layers’ contents are neutral anyway one can (relatively) easily change luminance to transparency with Blend If-settings, Groups and Color Overlays.
