Rullers in PhotoShop

New Here ,
Dec 10, 2024 Dec 10, 2024

I am unable to see the demarkations in the PhotoShop rullers.  I can only estimate placement of photos on a page because the marks are TOO SMALL.  Can the rullers be enlarged?  Please help!

Changing the units makes a difference.

This is with rulers set to pixels on a 4K screen with zoom set to 100%

And this is with rulers set to Inches.  The subdivisions are still hard to see though.

I'm guessing that you know that zooming in will also expand the rulers.  This is with rulers set back to pixels, and zoomed in as far as it will go.

You can make rulers more visible by changing the Interface colour, although I can't imagine anyone wanting to work with it on its lightest setting.

This is probably usable.  It has the Dark Gray background, which gives your image window good contrast, but with a light gray Interface to make rulers etc. stand out.

Another idea would be to use Guides for when you need critical placement.  If you use New Guide Layout you can set up and save a layout making it quick and easy to use next time.  I use this a lot.

I am soooo going to fix my Interface now before it makes me ill. 😞

OK, onee last idea. We can't change how rulers are displayed, but we can control how the Grid shows.

Having told you all of the above, I just set Rulers to pixels, and zoom in if I need critical placement.

REALLY, the last one. Just remembered that the Properties panel is very useful in this respect nowadays.  I find it super useful being able to click to change.  Not all of the time, but it is sometimes the fastest way to toggle a condition etc.

The ruler size is affected by the UI font size. It is set in the preferences settings.

Perhaps in new Photoshops there is also scaling of the interface as a whole (not sure).
