run photoshop app on 2 different computers?

New Here ,
Nov 02, 2018 Nov 02, 2018

I need to run photoshop on a new Macbook, plus an older Macbook Air.  Plan management tab says only one computer can be used at a time even though I can install the app on both computers.  Bit of a drag.  How can I run the app on both computers without deactivating one?

You can install and activate any CC app on two machines

You can use only one of them in time (lisence)

You are using a Mac. I don't use Macs, but I understand you can have two instances of Photoshop running at the same time on the same computer.   So install a previous version, and switch between them.

I can't think why you would need to use two different systems at the same time, unless you wanted to share with another user.  That's in breach of the terms and conditions.

I have PS on my desktop and my laptop and can use them both at the same time. I know this is not permitted by the licence but I find this ridiculous. On my desktop I use the English version. On my laptop I use the Dutch version which I use for teaching PS at my local photography club. As I feel more comfortable in the English version plus on my desktop I have 3 screens I do most of the preparations on my desktop. But often I  need to check the Dutch translations of menus and adjustments  etc so I have both machines running at the same time.

I am not feeling I am doing anything wrong...

Could Adobe please let us use Photoshop and Lightroom on two computers - in the same time! Thanks.

There is basically only one reason to run them simultaneously: you're sharing your license with another person. Which is not allowed.

That's why.

Someone has replied and said I am allowing someone else to use my second computer which is why I need to have Photoshop on both. This is simply untrue. I work on two computers and it's a pain to have to log out on one and log in on the other all the time for different projects.

Ok, maybe I misunderstood. You don't need to log out. Two installations can be permanently logged in.

What you cannot do is operate them at the same time, which would require four arms or two persons.

Actually, this is the reason I wrote to this forum as I am unable to stay permanently logged in to my two computers. I won't need to use them at the same time - of course. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this little problem? Thank you.

That's not normal behavior.

The standard troubleshooting for this is to log out and back in. I know, that sounds a bit silly when log out is precisely the problem - but maybe it makes a difference when you initiate the logout.

If that happened to me, I would next uninstall the CC app and reinstall.

Finally, there might be a corrupt file in your user account that needs to be deleted, but I don't know which. But in principle, everyting under the user account will be recreated if deleted.
