save AS goes to last time used save as rather than original folder

I know this has been posted before, but couldn't find a solution (other than it's Apple's fault, not Adobe, and I'm not an Apple user).   Why does 'save as' go to the previous saved as folder rather than the containing folder??     This is incredibly time consuming and annoying to have to search for the explorer folder (windows user) since I go to PS from LR.   And yes, I have 'save to original folder' checked in Preferences.   In fact why have this option in preferences since it won't work.

    If this works with files outside of Lr, then perhaps there is a setting in Lr that you need to activate?

    In Photoshop go to Preferences > File Handling, and check “Save As to Original Folder”

    This sounds like corrupt preferences to me.

     

    In any case, "Save as to original folder" is the default out-of-the-box behavior, so resetting preferences should immediately bring that back.

      I have 'save as' to original folder in preferences and it doesn't work.    In fact that's what I said in the last sentences of my original post.

      That's why I suggested to reset preferences.

       

      A corrupt preferences file can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. The preferences file is prone to corruption because it is rewritten on every application exit - in contrast to read-only program files.

       

      Resetting preferences restores the application to clean factory state.

        Make sure you have given PS Full Disk Access in Apple System Prefs/Security and Privacy (in the list and checked on).

        If you haven't Apple OS may be overriding the PS preference due to permissions issues.
