Save for web bug. Only works while on VPN

I work from home a lot. My company has a huge internal network & I believe it uses Active Directory. I rarely jump on our VPN unless I need things on our network. However, whenever I'm using PhotoShop & save for web, I have to be on VPN or I get an error that says "The operation could not be completed. The system cannot find the path specified."

All other "Save" functions seem to work fine, except that one, which is kind of a pain. I've checked out the preferences to see if there was anywhere that had a path to our VPN & all scratch disks are local C drive.

Anyone else notice this? Any suggestions?

PS, I'm running the latest Windows 10 along with the PS 22.0.0. I see there is an update, but honestly, this has been going for about 10 months that I know of, so I'm not hopeful on the update.

Thanks for any insight or help.

In other news, since I've tossed my prefs & updated my PS from v22.0.0 to v22.1.1, I've had to turn of the "Use Graphics Processor" option in Prefs > Perfomance so can open images without errors... which I had to do before when going up to v22. No biggie...

However, I can't quit Photoshop without this "Could not complete your request because of a program error." I'm thinking there may be another post somewhere in the community about that??

There definitely is; some suggested methods work (like cropping a document before trying to save it).

That GPU issue is a problem regardless. (Mostly because buggy video drivers are by and large the source of many issues.) What are you using for a video adapter? (Is there more than one?) Are its drivers up to date?

Thanks for the reply. I just ran an update on the video drivers & says the best ones are already installed which is Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 on my HP (i5) laptop.

Interstingly enough, I restarted a couple times yesterday & that did not fix the error when quitting PS. After it being shut off all night & firing it up this morning, PS quits successfully now. Which is great, because I had to turn off that pesky GPU setting everytime I started because a forced quit would not write that updated pref. Sigh.

At least I'm back to where I was with just having trouble saving for web while not connected to my work VPN. It does work when connected, so I just sign on real quick when I need to save (locally) & sign off when I'm done. Sigh #2.

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp\SaveForWeb\BrowserPreview\

is the above path blocked in your network?

Well, that specific directory (within my username) does not fully exist. Going there directly from my windows explorer, using my account, I can get up to the Temp folder (no vpn required to get there). Inside, I can find no "SaveForWeb."

If that's a default directory, I suspect it's swapped out for something on my network by our IT :(. I believe they're using Microsoft Active Directory, but don't know any specifics.

Are you trying to save across a network? I know Adobe doesn't recommend that. (They recommend saving locally, then transfer those documents across your network. Does that work?)

Thanks for the reply!

Nope. I only save local. That's why it's strange that I have to connect to our VPN to save locally. The save for web dialog box is obviously trying to call upon a path within our VPN. But, I can find no where to change that in the preferences.

Did you try resetting preferences? (This will nuke everything and you'll have to reset everything back to the way you had it but it can help.)
