Question

Save Unfinished PS files as Icons?

Ive looked everywhere and cant seem to figure it out.
Is there ANY way we can save our Unfinished (WIPS) files with a preview icon of the image we are working on, rather than the blue PSD photoshop file icon?

Its really annoying and frusterating to have to read through hundreds of file names all with the same blue PSD icon just to find whatever file your looking for when a simple preview icon of the image your working on would be MUCH better.

Anyone have any clues or is this simply not a feature? Which if thats the case, it seriously needs to be an option. "Save file with preview icon?" Or something.

The only workaround I can think of is to use Bridge.  The only problem with that (IME) is that you need a decent system with lots of memory for Bridge to have fully snappy performance.

It has been this way since Photoshop 7.0 in, er... 2002 or something. PSD thumbnails are not supported in Windows.

Adobe and Microsoft argued over this for a long time, each blaming the other, and then they just gave up. Now we just accept it. If you want thumbnails, use TIFF, or use Bridge.

There are third-party codecs, if it's important.

You will need a third party thumbnail viewer like these:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/sagethumbs/    (free}

https://mysticcoder.net/mysticthumbs   (subscripttion)

I didn't think any of those worked nowadays Bob.   I think Dag has it right, but I'd love to be proved wrong.
