Saves in wrong location - macOS Mojave Photoshop

I've been trying to get photoshop to save files in particular folders but its always saving in the parent directory.

I.E - trying to save to Documents -> Websites causes it to save in documents

Trying to save in Documents -> Websites -> Images causes it to save in Websites

This is occurring no matter how I try and save, using the save as, using export to web

I'm running the latest Mac OS and the latest photoshop

    I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with my installation. I'm finding other odd things, like the foreground/background colour icons show black/white even though its set to another colour.

    I know I had a lot of issues getting the applications to download at all. Kept getting to same % downloaded then getting stuck

    Nope, tried resetting the preferences but the same issue still occurs.

    I don’t know if it’s related but I had a previous version of photoshop that would freeze as soon as it opened that I couldn’t get uninstalled fully as it wasn’t compatible with my version of Mac OS  The uninstaller gave the error message

    Are you opening the target folder, or just selecting it? It sounds like you're doing the latter. You need to be in the target folder when saving.

      I'm double clicking to go into the folder, and the folder name listed is correct on the save box. This is the same as when I used a previous version of photoshop.

      Sometimes it saves correctly, sometimes it doesn't

      I've just tried to save a psd in /Volumes/Backup/Websites/Card Hoarder Cards but it actually saved in /Users/ceriturner on the first attempt and the second attempt it saved in /Users/ceriturner/Downloads

      Hi there,

      That does not sound right. As Photoshop is not saving the file to the desired location, could you please try resetting the preferences of Photoshop and let us know if it helps with this issue?
