Saving as JPG vs. exporting a JPG - clipping path problem

Since a few versions the "Save as" is reduced to a few files type (PSD, TIFF..). So in order to save a JPG we would have to use "Export as", unless we activate the old "Save as" again or use "Save a copy". Well, there are two differences between the old and the new way, in my eyes concept bugs:

1. The old "Save as" would automatically put paths as clipping paths into the JPG, so you could select them after import to Indesign, for instance. The new "Export as" doesn't export clipping paths at all. The problem: how are we supposed to know that? Furthermore, how are we supposed to know that saving as JPG is now in "Save a copy"?

2. "Save as" for JPG and "Save a copy" have a quality scale of 1-12, the new export GUI has 1-7. Comparing them and if I used to save a JPG in quality 8 before, which was labeled "High", it would now be 4.2, means 4. Why, Adobe, why 7? Did you throw the dice on that number? I mean, other softwares do it as 0-100% which makes some sense and back in the day, your level 12 was supposed to equal 100%. Is now 7 the new 100%?

Again, that's not the point. Since "Save as" doesn't write JPGs anymore and people don't think it could be in "Save a copy" (totally illogical, because the name says it would save a copy of the current file format), they would use "Export as" instead. Something that's not a substitute for actually saving high quality JPGs and something that doesn't save clipping paths.

Furthermore nobody, perhaps except nerds, reads release notes. I think most would want go for "never touch a running system" while auto-update kills the running system. Yes, they could turn off auto-update, but still, you need some nerd level to even come to this conclusion. It's not the job of the paying user to think about how they can keep their system running, it's Adobe's job to think about how can they prevent to not kill the user's system. The switch to "Save a copy" was not necessary, for instance.

Export > Save for Web (Legacy) has never included paths, nor did its predecessor, Adobe ImageReady.

Export As and Quick Export and Generate Assets have never included paths.

All of the above are intended for web/monitor/screen use.

Save, Save As or Save As a Copy will include paths if the output format supports paths.

None of this has changed with regards to paths.

What did change is having to use Save As a Copy to save into formats that may not retain current features such as layers.

You can revert to the legacy Save As behavior in file handling preferences.

It is all documented in the previous help links and release notes when each version comes out.

That's what I wrote. The main problem is that you a) don't know when Adobe simply switched the functionality from "Save as" to "Save copy" and b) that exporting would not include the paths. You simply don't expect that and when the path is missing you startto wonder and search and end up cursing Adobe.

Why don't you know? Because auto-updates are default. So many people don't realize that their tools are permanently updated in the background and it will surely very often occur that people find their tools to be working differently suddenly without notice. I mean, the Adobe forums are full of mails with the topic like "doesn't work anymore" while it's mostly just "has been changed, now works differently". Sometimes I think this is made up to keep the highly paid programmers working for the much money Adobe makes from the expensive subscriptions.

Export is intended for web/screen use, so it does not include paths, which are a print feature. For print you need to save as a copy, you can also set your file handling preferences to use legacy save as if you don't like the new save as a copy.
