saving files

Photoshop does not complete the process of saving the files.

Photoshop cannot save the file because of "Background saving", but it stalls and does not make any progress on the background saving .

Any help?

What exact version of Photoshop and operating system are you using, have you tried a system reboot

Photoshop version: 21.0.1 

on IMac, Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1

I've reboot the system, but I've lost most of the work.

It happened 2 days ago as well, so really not good, for my work-flow.

Not sure if this is applicable to you, but try updating to 21.0.2
