Scratch disk size

what is a good amount of space to reserve for a scratch disk in Photoshop cc? I have just installed a new 500 gig. ssd to dedicate to this.

    Goodness, that is more than enough.  Among my many drives, I have two Samsung 512Gb 960 Pro NVMe drives.  One for the OS which has >300Gb free, and another for current projects that has a similar amount of free space.  I also have 64Gb or 3600MHz memory, so I have worried about reserving a drive for Scratch because with that sort of overhead I have not felt the need to do so.    Scratch space is important though, and with the huge size of the temp files that can be created with large projects, even with NVMe drives there can be significant time reading and writing to them.

    IMO your first scratch space should be on an SSD with at least 100GB of free space
