I am having problems with filling patterns into a new file. A normal tile pattern can be filled, but none of the scripted varieties, e.g. spiral, brickwork. The scripts can be selected, but nothing happens. I have reset preferences on exit. This doesn't help. The 'preserved transparency' box is unchecked. I have just started subscribing and the photoshop I have is on a PC, just a month old and updated yesterday.
many thanks

Hi Dave and Chuck
Thank you again for your help. Being new to all this, I hadn't realised that Adobe were accessible by telephone. That's a relief. Anyway, it turns out that apparently the graphics Card I have (w4100) is insufficient. The rating on the on the ?video benchmark is 756 and I would need something in the region of 1000-2000 (not sure of the unit or what that really means - www.videocardbenchmark.net). This will probably mean more to you than me. In the meantime the graphics card in th

Hi
What happens when you click OK - do you see the follow on dialogue box giving the options for the spiral?

Hi Dave
the attached image comes up. It is the box with preset:custom and several scale bars and sliders. The buttons in the upper left are 'OK' , 'Reset' and 'cancel'. This looks to be the preview image, but the preview is just a white blank sheet within the dialogue box. when I press OK, nothing happens and I am left with the blank new sheet and the dialogue box disappears. Sorry about the large images. I am sure there is an easier way of attaching them.
thanks for any help

Can you try something for troubleshooting? Rather than using a custom pattern Can you select one of the default patterns and try that. If that resolves, then we take a look at your defined custom pattern. If not, then we can look at the function and resetting it.

Hi Dave
yes I can do that, but not with the 'script box' ticked, if I try for say, script and then choose spiral, with e.g. water, nothing happens. Likewise I can 'fill' a sheet with my own pattern, but only as a straight forward tile. As soon as I try anything else by checking the 'script' box and attempt to create a different fill patern (brickwork etc), it doesn't do anything. This happens with either the pre-installed patterns or my own.
I was wondering if I should uninstall the software, but was concerned that Adobe would think that I am putting it on to another computer and kick me out. I have it on my small laptop as well ( I think I am allowed it on two computers) - which interestingly is not causing this problem. The lap top is really too small to do anything meaningful on it.
All help is most gratefully received.

Once you subscribe, you can uninstall and reinstall. I do it all the time.

As Chuck Uebele states, you should be able to uninstall and resinstall without issues, however before doing that I would try a preference reset. Preferences > General > Reset Preferences on Quit then click OK and close and restart Photoshop.
Preferences contain more than just your user settings, and are saved when Photoshop is closed. Any corruption can lead to unusual behavior. Resetting takes them back to "factory" settings.

Hi Dave and Chuck
I have done everything suggested, reset preferences etc, uninstalled photoshop, reinstalled photoshop. set the computer back to a restore point. I restarted the computer at each stage. Could not uninstall creative cloud because other programmes are using it apparently.
No joy at all. It must be something simple, but I seem to do the same process of pattern fill on the lap top and it works OK. I am baffled.

Anyway, I thought that I would let you know. I will organise to get a better graphics card this week.

Hi Chuck,
I know this thread is from quite some time ago, but I am also having this exact same problem and it's absolutely baffling me. Especially because I have an RTX series graphics card. Any suggestions?

Other than what was already suggested, I'm not sure what else to do.
