Select and mask only working in preview

I can see the changes I make in the small preview window top right corner but not on my work.

This has only just happened, I rely on select and mask for a large portion of my work and use this tool everyday.

Can someone please help, or explain a fix.

If you're viewing the small preview window in Onion Skin mode, you may need to increase that transparency slider so you can better see the distinction.
