Selecting the handwriting from one file and placing it onto another image with a different

Hi everyone,

I'm very to this. How do you select a handwriting in an image (without selecting the background) and paste it onto the desired image (desired background)

All helpful comments are appreciated.

Hi!

Can you show us a screen shot of the image? It would be really helpful to see what you are working with. If the handwriting is black or dark, and the background is light, we can isolate it and move it to a new layer and move it over. Let's see what you are working with!

If the signature is on a pure white background, just add it as a layer over the image and change the Blending Mode of the signature layer to Multiply. No need for silhouetting.

I really don't even know if it is a signature or a scribble. It is on a pure white background. I appreciate your comments but it's too complicated for me to follow without making mistakes. All I know is I have these two files and I don't know how I get them to become layers on the same screen. Appreciated if you elaborate or write it out step by step.

If the handwriting on the photograph includes a signature or something similar, seriously consider the legal ramifications of what you intend to do. Sad to say, we liive in a very litigious society,

it's much easier to isolate letters that are on a solid background.

Depending on image, you might be able to select background with Magic Wand tool.

Use Ctrl + Shift + I to Inverse the selection.

Ctrl + C to copy letters.

Open new image and use Ctrl + V to paste letters.

Open the the file that carries the.new image. Then open the image file carrying the signature.

one.png222.png

With the signature showing, choose Select > All or make a rectangular selection around the signature and follow that with Edit > Copy

Now move to the image file and choose Edit > Paste. The result will look l like this

Last, in the Layers panel change Bllelnding Mode Normal to Multiply. This is the result.

4444.png

You can now use the Move tool to change its position and/or Edit > Transform > Scale to change the signature size.

Save the file as a psd so that it may be edited later,  if desired. Then save as jpg, for example, to flatten the file

Thank you, Norman! I've been scouring Adobe for a simple way of copying handwriting and adding it to another photo. This was a simple explanation and easy to follow.
