selection is not working

hello,

I am facing a problem in photoshop. My fill is not applied to selection, rather its applied on the outsde of the selected shape. How to solve it? please help.

I reproduced your operations and got the same result.

Just check before making the path that you are not like below substracting (which seems to be the default setting when you draw a path)

You will get what you want

Also you can just invert the selection 😉
