sharpening workflow

Question

I'd be interested on hearing workflow suggestions for sharpening. The 1st image below is a composite of 30 photographs. The areas in yellow rectangles are a bit soft. The second screenshot shows one of these areas at 100% with the soft area on the left of the yellow line and the sharp area to the right. In an exchange back in 2022, @c.pfaffenbichler recommended using the Mask of the Smart Filter or multiple instances of the Smart Object, applying different Filters/Settings and Layer Masks to them. I am curious if anyone uses a workflow without Smart Objects to get similar results. I tend not to work with Smart Objects because of the increased file size and the complications they create for pixel edits. It may also be a matter of a workflow that I have gotten used to working with Adjustment Layers, which I feel work well for me and are quite flexible. Anyway, if anyone has thoughts I'd appreciate hearing them. Thanks.

I'd delete this post if I could, as it's a bad example for rehsarpening.  Too much of the image is too out of focus, and it needs to be reshot.  I use a tilf-shift lens and I don't know what happened here.  The left and right sides of all the captures (this was a composite of 30 photos) were badly out of focus.  I shot a test at home with this lens and used a different one and I could not duplicate the problem.  So this makes me think neither the camera nor lens is defective.  The only thing I can think is at fault is that the plane of the lens and that of the surface I was shooting were not strictly parrelel.  I use a 3-way level but it can't capture this relationshiup.  I thought f14 would be sufficient for depth of field but perahps I need to go smaller.  The image is a flat surface so there is little forgiveness for focus problems.
